Wow, what a year and a half since the last post! I have an exciting announcement: I have graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a Bachelor's degree in English. It's official!
This year and a half has been a whirlwind. During the time, I finished my current pet project, Fugitive, and I have almost finished book three in the series. Now to get working on getting it all published. Prisoner still needs edits, and so will Fugitive, but for now, I am focusing on the third book, Warrior. I suppose the naming of the series is something to be excited about, but I shall not spill any reasons for why I have picked these names. Spoilers are not fun. In other news, I have started to play Dungeons and Dragons. Plenty of funny stories have come from this, and I may start a series about the funny stories. Who knows? It may prove to be a funny serial story opportunity. For now, I leave all of you with well-wishes and best wishes for your safety. Covid-19 is no joke, and I really think we have seen the curve flatten by doing everything we have done. Other than this, please do not ask for other opinions on what is going on. I shall also leave you with my new favorite selfie of myself from a trip I took to Europe over the summer of 2019. (I told you: whirlwind year and a half.) This photo was taken by me on the boat to Venice that morning. It was such a fun trip; I'll have to write about it some time.

Whew, this month has been busy! I have been working in a sewing class. This is the first time I've had any real deadline for getting a sewing project done. I must say, it was challenging. We made a pillowcase, a pair of pajama pants, a shirt, and a skirt - in that order. If you have never sewn before, this was intense. Even though we split the projects up over multiple weeks, holy cow, it was difficult. Sleeves are probably the hardest thing. That said, I'm really proud of the work I got done in this class, so I've attached a gallery of the finished projects, and the video I filmed of my final portfolio of techniques. In addition, there is a picture of a zippered pouch I made myself with the new skills, as well as a second pair of pants. As far as the writing goes from NaNo, I only got 5,000 words. I did a lot of editing, though. I've also been doing a lot ghostwriting, as the norm is this time of year. Lots of Christmas themed stories. Ah well, c'est la vie! I'm off to finish it all before the new year begins. With November now upon us, and my fall semester in full swing, there's only one thing to take all the stress away: National Novel Writing Month!
Well, it's been over a year since my first post here. School gets you like that. I have been busy taking classes, working, being with the family. All that fun stuff. Anyway, I'm here to say that I have a new book that I'm working on, and this is your best place to find updates about it. I'm about 90,000 words into the first draft, so it is a thick brick of a book. More to come as I finish the draft, including a working title, character profiles, and more.
For today, I just wanted to pop in and tell everyone how I'm doing. I'm exhausted from school, but that's not new. Have fun, and keep writing. Hi everyone! I'm Mariah Moon, but I'll spare the introductions because, well, that's what the "About" page is for. (For fun facts about myself, check out the "Fun Facts" page.) Go ahead and make all the moon jokes you want; I've pretty much heard them all. I do welcome them. They're fun. I will, once in a blue moon, hear one that is new. *Insert rim shot*.
While the other pages are professional, these blog entries will be rather informal. Yes, I will be the one writing them. Due to that, however, I may not post very often. I do have a life. Not a very social life, but a life all the same. College life can be like that. For now, this is just a short introduction post to my site. The home page is, of course, my blog. To the side, a link to my Wattpad profile - pink896heart. I don't see that username changing anytime soon. There is also a button to my LinkedIn profile. Don't use it much, but there it is. You'll also notice that there is a tab on the top entitled "Books". There, you'll find tabs to my various books. On a book's page, you'll find the front cover and description of the book, as well as a "buy here" button linking to its Amazon page. The three basic elements will be on each page, but the layout will change from page to page. As for the blog itself, the topics I discuss will range from upcoming releases (which have been few and far since 2014, I'll admit), the mundane life that I lead, or just resources for new writers. Anything in between could happen, too. And despite the picture including it, I don't drink coffee. Or tea. For this entry, I'll include the story of my first author picture (the one featured in my first three novels). In it, I am wearing dark eyeshadow, no glasses, a pair of blue and white striped pants, and a white tee shirt that says "Los Angeles", with a peace sign replacing the "O". Typically, I don't wear makeup and I'm wearing glasses. Back then, I think it was lavender colored frames with oval lenses. This particular photo was taken by a high school friend. I had slept over at her house the night before, and she had done my makeup. That's the only time I can recall sleeping in heavy makeup. Not fun. So, that's the story behind that particular author photo. |
